New Hymns for the Lectionary is a work in progress. As hymns are completed, they will be posted. I am committed to doing new hymns for the Gospel lessons one month ahead-of-time. This should allow for worship planning. Where possible, I will also write hymns for the other lessons but I suspect they will occupy my time in years to come. All said, the project will consist of over 600 hymns on the lessons, plus hymns for special days and ocassions.
This work began in the frustration of finding a good Mothers’ Day hymn in 2004. So I wrote
one. It then occured to me that the Lectionary could use some hymns that were written expressly for it. After all, there are many resources that suggest hymns for the lessons but no hymns that have been written specifically for the lessons (that I know of). So I started writing these the week following Mothers’s Day 2004. Since I was then preaching the Gospel lessons, there are already hymns for about half of Year C’s Gospel lessons.

SPECIAL NOTE: I am looking for a composer/arranger, who would like to contribute to this project. If you are interested in either doing new arrangements for the old tunes or even working on some new tunes for my lyrics, please contact me.
