"Where Tempests Never Rage" TEXT: Mark Ryman (©2004) based on Luke 12:49-56. More hymns at edoxy.com. TUNE: "Lancashire" Henry T. Smart (1813-1879). I have come to cast fire upon the world you know. How I wish it were kindled but I must undergo a fellowship of suff’ring, a baptism of blood, a storm of anguished passion so you might know your God. You should have seen this coming, this coming of a storm — clouds coming from the great sea; you have all been forewarned. My coming is with terror, as with a hurricane; and I have not come with peace — upsetting each tartane. You know of storms and watches and even weatherfronts. But will you heed my warning so you might fill your bunts and set sail toward the kingdom where true peace rules the day and squalls are never suffered — where tempests never rage?
