"The Gospel Garden" TEXT: Mark Ryman (©2005) based on Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. TUNE: “Bethlehem,” by Gottfried W. Fink (1842) The Lord gave us a parable to show us all the way His meaning was so terrible; why doesn’t it hold sway? The truth is there; it’s plain to see; but we refuse to hear the fiery facts of our Lord’s plea to those that he holds dear. He’s sown the earth with gospel seed but evil lurks here too. We live here with the worldly weed that threatens to undo the good Lord’s gospel seed garden of lovely thriving plants. He has extended his pardon until the spark’s advance. For just as sure as life for us is death and what it bears. For tares it is the furnace; for us there are no cares since we shall shine as bright as day in the kingdom of God. So grow up straight and do not stray and spread the news abroad.
