"Religious Façade" TEXT: Mark Ryman (©2004) based on Luke 10:25-37 . More hymns at edoxy.com. TUNE: "New Britain,” by James P. Carrell and David S. Clay (1831). An expert in Mosaic law asked Jesus what to do. By his answer Jesus would draw on what we know is true. What must I do to live on past this time given on earth? The A and Z, the first and last asked what law has most worth. “Love the Lord,” came the scribe’s reply, and “neighbor as yourself.” By this right life might you rely on life beyond the delf. So we must live as though we love our neighbor like our God. Loving all kinds draws us above a religious façade.
