"On the Same Day He Arose" TEXT: Mark Ryman (©2005) based on John 20:19-31. More hymns at edoxy.com. TUNE: "Italian Hymn," by Felice de Giardini (1769). On the same day he arose, Jesus came to those he chose. The doors were closed because they feared the Jews— Giving them more excuse for any more abuse than predisposed. Still he appeared in their midst so their fears would be dismissed. Peace be to you! Come see my hands and feet. This is no foul deceit; Death now knows whole defeat, making all new. As the Father has sent me, now each of you is trustee Of the good news. Feel my breath touch your face, My Spirit fulfill grace; sinners now you give chase in Gospel shoes. Blessed are you who believe though some think you are naïve Though you don’t see the hole that’s in my side, The blood from when I died, still you choose to abide on Calvary.
